Intended Use
Advancements in medical technology today, provide a diverse number of medical procedures and therapeutic interventions via the femoral/brachial artery.

To access the femoral/brachial artery and vein,a sheath and\or catheter is inserted. A plastic hollow tube with an access port at one end.The internal diameter of the sheath can vary depending on the type of intervention being performed. After the procedure has been performed it is removed by either manual pressure, mechanical pressure (C clamps) and more recently new closure devices.

Traditionally doctors were responsible for removing the femoral sheaths post procedure and manual pressure the preferred method. Once haemostasis was achieved, nurses were responsible for groin and circulation observations until the patient was discharged, due to the increasing number of procedures and limited availability of a doctor to remove sheaths.

Registered nurses gradually took over the responsibility of sheath removal as an extended critical care role. Today nurses play a significant role in the recovery and the successful outcome of all diagnostic and interventional procedures that are performed routinely around the world.

Despite these changes and improvements to patient care, groin complications remain a serious issue for all involved. Having the right equipment available to achieve a successful outcome with minimal cost has always been the goal of Bocster Medical Australia.

The Bocster Pressure Clamp is the most cost effective solution available on the Market today. It is a quality product that has stood the test of time because it gives nurses the right tool to safely remove femoral/brachial sheaths with minimal effort and discomfort to the patient.

Not only does it do the task required of it better than other solutions on the market it also saves money through, cost effective treatment, staff time and costs involved with complications from using other methods.

It is the third arm you wished you had, after you have taken out the sheath.

The new device has also been successfully clinically trialed. An independent study was conducted by Pauline Bergin Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Coronary Care Unit Prince Of Wales Hospital Randwick. The results of the trial were presented at the XIVth World Congress Of Cardiology Sydney, Australia May 5-9,2002. The device was on display at  the 51st CANZ Annual Scientific Meeting 10-13 August 2003 and the Heartbeat 2004.
